Breckenridge is about to get even more exciting this February, March, and April with a packed lineup of events that’ll keep you busy all season long. Whether you’re ready to tackle the Frisco Full Moon Freeze Winter Fat Bike Race or test your limits at the Imperial Challenge, there are plenty of ways to get your adrenaline pumping. For those who prefer to kick back and enjoy some culture, the Banff Mountain Film Festival and Fly Fishing Film Festival offer awesome films, while live music, theater performances, and Mardi Gras celebrations bring a festive vibe to town. And, of course, the season wouldn’t be complete without the closing of the ski resorts, marking the end of another epic winter. Breckenridge has something for everyone this spring, so mark your calendar and get ready to make the most of it!

Breckenridge Backstage Theater Presents: Finding Nemo, Jr.

Breckenridge Backstage Theater presents Disney’s Finding Nemo, Jr.- a story of bravery, perseverance, and love! This 60-minute musical adaptation is rated G, has no intermission, and is perfect for families. The show will be performed by over 30 local Summit County youngsters.

Frisco Full Moon Freeze Winter Fat Bike Race

The Frisco Full Moon Freeze is a winter fat bike race under the full moon! Race under the stars at the Frisco Nordic Center. Normally, the FNC does not allow fat biking on its groomed trails, but the Full Moon Freeze is the exception. Get ready for a unique and exciting race!

Banff Mountain Film Festival

February 21-22

The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour, hosted by and benefiting the Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center, is a two-night event at the Riverwalk Center. These films feature mountainous adventures from the highest peaks to the corners of the world, showcasing the action sports we all love.

Subaru Winterfest at Copper Mountain

February 21-23

Head on over to Copper Mountain for Subaru WinterFest, a mountain and music lifestyle tour! Enjoy live music by The National Parks, High Lonesome, The Goonies, & Simba Sax. There will be adventure gear for purchase, snacks and beverages, activities for dogs, giveaways, and more!

Leadville Skijoring

March 1-2

Leadville Skijoring is a mountain event like no other! This event, which has been happening since 1949, is a competition in which a horse and rider pull a skier through a course of gates, jumps, and rings. The skiers is timed and penalties are assessed- competitors race for cash prizes. Check out Leadville Skijoring for a one-of-a-kind Wild West event.

Frisco Mardi Gras for Paws

March 1

Our friends in Frisco do Mardi Gras with a twist with their costumed dog parade and street party benefiting Hope For Animals – Clear Creek Rescue. The day includes the dog parade, live Mardi Gras music, and a canine costume contest! All proceeds benefit Hope For Animals. Have Mardi Gras fun while supporting a good cause!

Keystone Mardi Gras Party & Gumbo Cook-off

March 4

Our friends at Keystone are hosting their annual Mardi Gras Party and Gumbo Cook-off! Celebrate Mardi Gras in River Run Village- bring your beads, costumes, and gumbo-eating appetite. Free live music will be performed by Bourbon Street Hurricane. This family-friendly event will have free-face painting, photo booths and more.

Frisco Brewski

March 8

Frisco Nordic Center is hosting the annual BrewSki- a cross-country or snowshoeing journey complete with beer sampling from local breweries! This is not a race- just a fun event for us to get outside on the snow and taste some great brews. Costumes are highly encouraged!

Fly Fishing Film Tour

March 21

The Breckenridge Fly Fishing Film Tour is a collection of the best fly fishing films in the world! Gather with a community of fly-fishermen or women for live music, food, beer, giveaways and an incredible raffle drawing. This annual event is a fundraiser to support the Blue River Watershed Group– a local non-profit that supports the health of the Blue River.

Imperial Challenge

April 5

Imperial Challenge is our local pseudo-triathlon to kick off spring skiing and the coming of the end of the season! This race starts at the Breckenridge Recreation Center to the base of Peak 7. Racers transition into uphill skinning gear and race to the top of Peak 8 where they ski downhill back to the base of Peak 7. Whether you participate or spectate, the Imperial Challenge is a super fun, community-building event!

Sunsation at Copper Mountain

April 26-27

Copper Mountain celebrates the end of ski season with Sunsation, an annual spring celebration with free live music, giveaways, and more. Grab your favorite tropical shirts, leis, and get ready for some slushy spring riding, music, and end-of-season fun!

Ski Resort Closing Days

We’re sad to see the end of ski season approaching, but the ski areas send us off with a bang! As we approach the end of season, look for Slush Cups, Pond Skims, and live music! Breckenridge normally hosts its annual pond skim and live music at the base of Peak 8 at the end of April. Normally, Breckenridge Ski Resort will stay open until mid-May, with Keystone, Vail, and Beaver Creek closing in mid-April.

Friends of Dillon Ranger District

Winter Events

One of our most treasured local non-profit organizations, Friends of Dillon Ranger District (FDRD), offers a variety of programs to keep us learning and exploring all winter long! FDRD is an active, locally-based stewardship organization that works for sustainable management of our local forest with the help of volunteers and collaboration with the US Forest Service.
