Breckenridge’s Haunted History Tours

Calling all ghouls and ghosts! Get into the spirit this Halloween season with Breckenridge Tours or Breck History on an unforgettable journey into the seedier side of our town’s past! Experience chilling tales and uncover local history as our expert guides lead you through the shadows. Keep your eyes peeled for the lingering spirits of Breckenridge’s historic residents as you delve into the darker chapters of our mining and Wild West past.

Breckenridge Tours

Breckenridge Tours has been owned and operated by Gail, a Breckenridge local, since 2009. She has been trained as a Certified Interpretive Guide through the National Association of Interpreters and authored a book entitled “Haunted Breckenridge“.

  • Ghostly Tales

    Join Breckenridge Tours on a chilling tour of the darker side of Breckenridge. The wild west history of our quaint mountain town still lingers…if you can believe it. Ghost hunting equipment provided!

    • Dates: Monday-Saturday
    • Time: 7:00 p.m.
    • Cost: $30 adult; $20 child (6-12)
      • Tour not recommended for children under 5
    • Location: Tour begins at Ollie’s


  • Voices From The Grave

    Voices from the Grave explores the original cemetery of Breckenridge. Learn the history of the cemetery, and the residents the town. Visit their businesses or homes along the tour.

    • Dates: Monday through Friday
    • Time: 10:30 a.m.
    • Cost: $25
      • *This tour is not suitable for children under 6
    • Location: Tour meets at Main Street Station


  • Strange But True

    Enjoy this tour of the occurrences in our quaint mountain town, from the strange to the sordid. From kidnappings to strange events, to the Breckenridge Navy and the opening of Breckenridge Ski Resort. Get ready to be entertained while gaining some knowledge!

    • Dates: Monday-Friday
    • Time: 2:00 p.m.
    • Cost: $25 adults; $17 children (8-12)
      • *Tour not recommended for children under 8
    • Location: Tour begins at Summit Jewelry Store


Breckenridge History

Breckenridge History is a local non-profit organization that offers informative and interesting explorations into our past through their tours, museums, preservation projects, exhibits, and public events and programs.

  • Tombstone Tales

    Tombstone Tales takes a tour through Valley Brook Cemetery, built in 1882. Learn about the people buried here and the part they played in the history of Breckenridge. Walk amongst the headstones (and unmarked graves) of people from all walks of live including miners, widows, paupers, and more. Learn of tales of the illnesses, accidents, and conflicts that lead many to an early grave.

    • Dates: Thursdays
    • Time: 4:00-5:30 p.m.
    • Cost: $25 adults; $15 children (12 and under)
    • Location: Valley Brook Cemetery


  • Walk Through The Darker History

    The Walk Through The Darker History tour takes a walk through downtown to explore the seedier side of Breckenridge’s past. Learn about subjects from local saloon lore and rot-gut whiskey, madams and the red light district, along with a little mayhem and murder!

    • Dates: Tuesdays
    • Time: 4:00-5:30 p.m.
    • Cost: $25 (21+ only)
    • Location: Tour begins at the Breckenridge Welcome Center
