Breckenridge’s Ski and Snowboard School offers various programs to help meet your specific needs- whether it’s your first day or you’re looking to hone your skills. There are three separate ski and snowboard school locations in Breckenridge: The Village and Beaver Run (both located on Peak 9), and The Peak 8 School. Breckenridge ski lessons cater to all ages and abilities!

For those staying at Grand Timber Lodge, we recommend the Beaver Run School. For those staying at Grand Lodge on Peak 7 and the Grand Colorado on Peak 8, The Peak 8 School is just steps away from the Gondola.

Ski & Snowboard Lessons

Group lessons are available for the young skier or snowboarder in your group! Lessons range from first time preschoolers all the way up to full-day, all-terrain advanced groups. Ignite a love for winter sports that will last a lifetime!

Lessons aren’t just for kids, or even just for beginners! Whether you’re just starting out or looking to hone your craft, lessons are a great way to expand your skills. Adult group lessons are available for skiers or snowboarders with half or full day options available.

  • Skill Level: All skill levels welcome
    • First time, beginner, intermediate, advanced
  • Duration:

    • Full Day: 5.5 hours

Looking for one-on-one coaching? Private lessons may be the thing for you! Go with your family in a private group or just yourself- this customized option is available for groups of 1-6 people. Private lessons are available for children or adults, skiers or snowboarders, novice or experts.

Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center, a local non-profit organization, offers adaptive ski and snowboard lessons that includes one-on-one instruction and adaptive techniques and equipment. Adaptive lessons include instruction with a PSIA-trained instructor, on-hill guiding and support, and a lift ticket for the student.

Gear Rentals

Are you ready for your lesson? Ski and snowboard lessons do not include gear rentals. Luckily there are several options that offer owners and guests of Breckenridge Grand Vacations discounts on gear!

BRECK SPORTS

  • Breck Sports has 7 locations in town as well as a delivery option. Closest options to BGV resorts are Breck Sports Peak 8 (GC8), Breck Sports Crystal Peak (GL7), and Breck Rentals Beaver Run (GTL).
  • 20% discount offered to BGV owners and guests

SKI BUTLERS

  • Ski Butlers offers equipment rental with delivery and sizing right to your room! On-mountain equipment support or changes included with your rental.
  • 15% discount offered to BGV owners and guests

CHRISTY SPORTS

  • Christy Sports does not offer an exclusive discount for BGV owners, but they are conveniently located at Grand Timber Lodge. GTL guests can avoid crowds by visiting this off the beaten path location.

On-Mountain Child Care

If you have children who aren’t quite old enough for ski school or just aren’t ready to ski yet, there are on-mountain childcare options available! Breckenridge Ski Resort offers two drop-off childcare options for children ages 6 months up to 5 years old.

Peak 8 Child Care

Frequently Asked Questions

Lessons include instruction from a certified ski or snowboard instructor. Full day children’s group lessons include lunch. Private lessons and all adult lessons require participants to provide their own food. Lessons DO NOT include lift tickets or gear rentals. You may rent gear or bring your own equipment.

You should bring your ski/snowboard equipment, lift ticket or pass, and weather-appropriate clothing. You will be outside for the day so dress in layers and bring everything you will need! Check out our Ski Day Checklist for an extensive list.

Gratuities are not required but are certainly appreciated by your instructors! You are welcome to tip via cash or credit card.

Cancellation Policies as listed on the Breckenridge site:

Changes or cancellations can ONLY be made in advance of your lesson date by contacting the Ski & Snowboard School conducting your lesson. A cancellation Fee will be assessed for a guest when they cancel either a Group or Private Lesson as follows:

  • Any Ski & Snowboard School Product that is cancelled 48 hours or more prior to the lesson’s start time will be issued a full refund.
  • Any Ski & Snowboard School Product that is cancelled within 48 hours of the lesson’s start time will be charged the Cancellation Fee.
  • For Ski & Snowboard School Products that contain one lesson day, the Cancellation Fee is 50% of the cost of the lesson.
  • For Ski & Snowboard School Products that contain multiple lesson days, and a full Cancellation is required, the Cancellation Fee is 50% of the cost of the first lesson. All other days in a multiple lesson Ski & Ride School Product will be fully refunded.
  • The resort will not cancel lessons due to weather if the resort itself is operational. For more detailed information on refunds and cancellations, including the policy for Seasonal or Season-Long Programs, please refer to the Terms of Sale.
