A lot of people come to Breckenridge in the winter to either ski or snowboard, but what they don’t know is Breckenridge is known for so many other outdoor activities! Want to take a day off skiing or snowboarding and try something a little different? Visit the Gold Run Nordic Center and participate in one of the many outdoor activities that they offer. They have 30k of impeccable groomed classic and skate cross-country ski trails, 15k of snowshoe trails, fat biking/sleigh rides, ski lessons for all abilities and a newly renovated clubhouse, as well as a well-stocked retail shop! The Gold Run Nordic Center promises a great time for all!

Jessie Mill Guided Snowshoe Tour (Ages 7 & Up)

Explore one of the iconic mining structures in the Golden Horseshoe, The Jessie Mill. One of their experienced guides will highlight the rich mining history of the area as well as the local wildlife! This snowshoe adventure is a two-hour tour and is on gentle rolling terrain that is appropriate for families and children, ages 7 and up and those new to snowshoeing and new to the high altitude. Price includes trail pass fee. Rentals are available for half price.

Time: 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Dates: December 4 – April 4

Fees: $45 adults, $22.50 under 13

Jumbo Mine Guided Snowshoe Tour (Ages 12 & Up)

This adventure starts from the parking lot on Gold Run Road and passes Jessie’s Mill along the way. You will also pass the abandoned town of Preston on the way to the Overlook at the old Jumbo Mine. Your professional guide will provide commentary on the historical structures that you will encounter and about the history of the area and its natural wonders. On this tour you will snowshoe through the forest on tree lined paths, but you will also have the opportunity to break trail in some open snowfields. This adventure is rated moderately strenuous and is recommended for adults and children over 12 years of age. Depending on the conditions, the tour will generally take two to two and a half hours. Price includes trail pass fee. Rentals are available for half price.

Fees: $45 adults, $22.50 under 12

Dry Gulch Guided Snowshoe Tour (Ages 12 & Up)

This tour will also leave from the parking lot on Gold Run Road and passes many of the features of the area (the Jessie Mill, the Jumbo Mine and the abandoned town of Preston) on the way to our destination of Dry Gulch, an old mining claim. Your guide will explain the history of the valley and its mining industry and will also highlight the sub-alpine environment through which you will pass. There are many beautiful stopping points along the of the Ten Mile Range. This tour is rated strenuous and is recommended for adults and children at least 12 years old. Depending on the conditions, this tour could take three to four hours. Price includes trail pass fee. Rentals are available for half price.

Fees: $45 adults, $22.50 under 13

Full Moon Snowshoe Tour (Ages 6 & Up)

Are you looking for something a little different and want to experience the great outdoors with just a head lamp? Make sure you check out the Full Moon/New Moon night tour! You will have an experienced guide that will lead you on a wild adventure, with guidance from the moon, while the guide will share stories of the historical and natural environment that you are experiencing.

Fees: $60 adults, $45 under 13

*Cost is $60 and includes snowshoes. Children under 13 are $45 includes snowshoes and headlamp.

Fat Bike Day Tours (Ages 8 & Up)

For those who are interested in fat biking and learning the trails, a wonderful guide will instruct you through the trails and give you pointers on how to make the most out of you fat biking adventures!

Days: Mondays, Fridays & Saturdays

Time: 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Dates: January 1- March 31

Fees: $75

Full Moon Fat Bike Tours (Ages 16 & Up)

Want to ride a fat bike by headlamps on the fantastic groomed fat biking trails. This will be a fun and moderately strenuous fat bike ride by the light of the full moon and headlamps. Rent one of the Borealis Fat Bikes for $10 or bring your own. Fee includes tour and headlamp.

Dates: January 1 – March 27

Group Ski Lessons (Ages 10 & Up)

Would you like to learn all the techniques of either skate or classic cross-country skiing? Gold Run Nordic Center offers daily lessons at 10 a.m. The lesson fee includes a trail pass for the day and participants will receive 50% off equipment rentals for lessons. They ask that you arrive early to pick up equipment rental if that is needed for your lesson.

Fees: $45 for adults, $30 youth under 13

Tuesday Ladies Drop-In (Ages 16 & Up)

Ladies, are you looking for some company while out on the trails? Join the Gold Run Nordic Center Tuesday Ladies Drop-In ski hour! One of the lovely instructors will take a group out for a fun hour of social skiing. The instructor is also available for questions, tips and tricks.

*Regular trail pass and equipment rates apply.

Day: Tuesdays

Time: 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Fees: $10

Learn to Skate Ski (Ages 10 & Up)

This is a weekly program that is intended to fast track any beginner skate skier. This class is held every Thursday for 4 weeks and is based on good technique while building a community of individuals who like to skate ski together.

*Package does not include trail pass or equipment rentals.

Day: Thursday

Time: 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Fees: $100

Private Lessons

Private lessons are offered daily, based on instructor availability. These private lessons will last an hour to and hour and half. Classic and skate lessons are available for beginners to advanced levels. A trail pass is offered complimentary with the lesson fee and rental equipment is 50% off. They ask that you arrive early to pick up rental equipment if this is needed for lesson. Reservations are required.
