One of our most treasured local non-profit organizations, Friends of Dillon Ranger District (FDRD), offers a variety of programs to keep us learning and exploring all winter! Friends of Dillon Ranger District is a locally-based stewardship organization that, with the help of volunteers and collaboration with the US Forest Service, works for sustainable management of our local forest. Explore the programs offered by FDRD this season!
FDRD is proud to provide free, on-hill cultural and natural history tours from January through March. Our trained Ski Rangers lead participants down a beginner or intermediate ski run, stopping periodically to discuss topics from local flora and fauna to geography and history and answering questions. These one-hour tours require participants to have a valid lift ticket or pass, intermediate skiing or riding ability, and a desire to learn — no pre-registration required.
