Springtime in the Rockies marks a season of transition. Snowfall becomes less frequent, days grow longer, and wildlife and vegetation begin to reappear after the winter months. It’s also a time when residents and visitors alike start getting back outside to enjoy the changing landscape.

While spring conditions can vary and many trails remain too wet for hiking and biking, there are still plenty of ways to take in the outdoors. One option is visiting one of Colorado’s many natural hot springs. These geothermal pools offer a relaxing way to experience the mountains while enjoying water rich in naturally occurring minerals. In addition to providing a soothing soak, hot springs are often associated with benefits such as improved circulation, muscle relaxation, and overall wellness.

While visiting hot springs, it is important to know the following:

  • Hydrate, rest, and limit alcohol. Especially in the mountains, it’s easy to become dehydrated. Take care of your body.
  • The minerals in hot springs can discolor clothing and tarnish jewelry. Be sure to remove all jewelry and wear an older swimsuit.
  • Hot springs are not recommended for pregnant women, children, or people with heart conditions. Avoid soaking alone.
  • Hot springs are a place for rejuvenation and relaxation. Be mindful of your noise level and respectful to those around you.
  • Many resorts offer rental options, but guests should plan to bring their own swimwear and towels. Sandals, sunscreen, and sunglasses are also recommended for a comfortable visit.

There are no natural hot springs in Breckenridge, but here are a few within a couple of hours’ drive- make a day trip of it.

Note: Hours and pricing are subject to change, so it’s a good idea to check ahead before visiting.
